The pretty bay of Marina di Modica, is located about 20 km from Modica and 15 km from Scicli, along the southeastern coast of Sicily, with its beach of fine golden sand and the pedestrian promenade, is a small corner of paradise for surfing and windsurfing enthusiasts, as thanks to its exposure it guarantees favorable wind conditions.
The wide beach stretches for about 1 km and is well served by three beaches that offer rental of umbrellas and deck chairs, bar, restaurant, showers and water sports equipment. During the high season, the beach is very popular with local holidaymakers and could be crowded, especially on weekends. There are two large parking areas a few meters from the beach. Close to Marina di Modica is Sampieri, a small fishing town with a long beach protected by dunes and which extends to the borders with the municipality of Scicli. At the end of the beach, on the cliff, stands the Fornace Penna, the evocative remains of an industrial plant that have become the set of a famous episode of the television drama Il Commissario Montalbano, based on the crime novels by Andrea Cammilleri.
A few kilometers from Marina di Modica there are also three coasts awarded in 2017 with the Blue Flag, the quality recognition assigned by the Foundation for Environmental Education (Fee) to seaside resorts: Marina di Ragusa, appreciated for its beaches of golden sand and famous for the house that houses the Commissioner Montalbano of the TV series and which overlooks the golden beach of Punta Secca, a small fishing village a few steps from Marina; Pozzallo also with African golden sand beaches bordered by an avenue of palm trees. Its coast is characterized by the presence of dunes, interspersed with rocky cliffs and lashed by the hot sirocco; finally Ispica where there are the Faraglioni that rise in front of the beaches of Ciriga and the coast of Santa Maria del Focallo.
